Sounds of A Dancer’s 3rd Annual Hooky Day

I remember when I was a shorty rock in high school, I used to cut class and when ever I do, the East River Park is where I usually went to. A big crew of classmates and I just went and brought out the radio, chilled out, played spades, and had a good old time.

I would not believe I would be back here 17 years later!

Yes, August 10th is DJ Dat Gurl Curly’s annual Sounds of a Dancer’s 3rd Annual Fun Day Friday as she calls it, but it will always be Hooky Day in my eyes. Too many memories.

This day is dedicated to YOU just for being on the everyday grind, whether it’s school, work or just making that hustle. So whether you wanna fake out your boss or teacher and play hooky, enjoy that day on your paid (or unpaid) vacation, or if it’s just your day off, join us and make a few dents in the pavement with some musical beats provided by the hostess Curly, William Alvarado, Duce Martinez, Phil Hooten, Steven “Lucky” Benson, John Mateo, Lil’ Ray, yours truly pink and the incomparable Josh Milan!

But wait…that’s not all! There will be  live performances from The King of Gospel House, Kenny Bobien and a special surprise guest! Who it is? You will have to come and find out!

This year will be right back where it started for me, in Curly’s own backyard at the Ampitheater, so this is a special day: Our day to play, so get ready to receive your permission slips for confirmation of your presence for the Faculty will be waiting.

Peep Show:…Introducing The Beastie Girls!

Last night, I just witnessed comedy to the 10th power.

In 2008, 3 DJs by the names of Ace House Nation, Duce Martinez and John “Toto” Rivera decided to play tea party dress up and play a spectacular set of music, in which they called it, Beauty and the Beat. People loved it so much, they decided to do it again! So yesterday, we got graced by 3 ladies, Lace, Dulce, & Joann, also known as the Beastie Girls! Along with one of the MCs of this 6-hour, once in a lifetime event, “Madam” DJ Dat Girl Curly, the music and the hijinks don’t stop! I was literally in tears and fell out of my seat laughing! If you missed it yesterday, here’s your chance to see it again! Enjoy it as much as I did!

Kudos to you guys! You all deserve a special place on the bus!

Ladies and gentlemen….please welcome….the Beastie Girls!
