H&M (Hennes & Mauritz), one of the world’s largest fashion retailers known for offering high fashion at affordable prices, celebrated the onset of fall fashion and their newest ad campaign, with a private performance by the retailer’s fall star, Lana Del Rey. Designers Prabal Gurung and Christian Siriano as well as Barbara Bush and Maggie Betts were among the VIP guests who attended the event, along with fashion industry insiders and local New York fashion arbiters. Lana performed a variety of songs at the chic downtown venue, The Wooly, including the music superstar’s cover of “Blue Velvet,” which will be the featured song in H&M’s fall fashion campaign video.
“Tonight was the perfect way to celebrate for the first time with Lana,” says Daniel Kulle, U.S. President for H&M. “The vintage décor of The Wooly combined with Lana’s timeless voice was a seamless representation of H&M’s fall aesthetic.”
Around 300 guests gathered at The Wooly, the downtown lounge within Manhattan’s iconic Woolworth Building. The venue incorporated vintage wallpaper, classic brass chandeliers and antique lamps with the addition of velvet drapery to provide an alluring mystique perfect for the superstar’s performance. The evening peaked when Lana debuted the “Blue Velvet” cover in association with the music video, shot by famed director Johan Renck. The film is a fully-plotted music video starring Lana as she sings “Blue Velvet,” which will be available to see in its entirety on hm.com from September 20th, with edited versions used as a TV campaign. The print and commercial campaign feature the best of fall fashion, highlighting Lana wearing a pink angora blend sweater, printed leggings, a tweed biker jacket, and a figure hugging leather trimmed dress among others.
