Hailee Steinfeld popped on the scene 5 years ago starting as an actress in such movies as Ender’s Game, Romeo & Juliet, True Grit, and my fave, Begin Again with Mark Ruffalo & Keira Knightley. But her most breakout role as a singer broke out in the acapella hit movie/musical, Pitch Perfect 2. Since then she has been on fire with her self-loving hit single, “Love Myself”. She sat down with Music Choice last week as she spoke about her new single and upcoming album.
“So ‘Rock Bottom’ with DNCE came about a couple months ago, Joe and I were in the studio, working with the same people at the same time, working on our EPs. And I guess sort of in passing he had heard I had just got ‘Rock Bottom’ and he heard it and loved it enough to want to put his own verse on it. And when he did, I heard it for the first time and felt like the song was just…complete. It felt like it was…not that it even was missing anything to begin with but it just really felt like that’s how the song is supposed to sound…with somebody. And Joe’s voice is amazing, and I’m obsessed with DNCE. So having them on the second single felt right and has been so much fun.”
