Betseymania: Betsey Johnson Fall 2012

Betsey Johnson takes us down Abbey Road last night in her latest Fall runway show.

The free-spirited designer presented to the world her Fall collection called Betseymania, which paid homage to all things British, including the greatest rock band the English ever made: The Beatles.

In this collection, Betsey creates 60’s mod and multi-generational fashions with some intriguing names such as Buckingham Palace, Ringo Star, and Strawberry Fields. It was all about petticoat dresses, peacoats, sequins, colors, mashup tracks and a bunch of fun on the runway. The hip and trendy Steve Madden shoe collection complimented every piece that walked out into the spotlight. Betsey’s daughter, Lulu closed out the show in a satin hot pink evening gown called to Sir With Love.

And what would be a Betsey show without the famous signature cartwheel and a band of models marching to “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Band.” The show was a hoot and I was blessed to have witnessed the event for this was too impossible to get into! Huge thanks to Diata Wallace of Society HAE, stylist Robin A. Lacey and the wonderful people in the world of Betsey Johnson!

Peep Show: Betsey Johnson Spring 2012 Collection

Okay, ladies! Boobies up, butts out! That was the theme to this year’s collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center last night, where everyone was in attendance, including rapper Nicki Minaj, who Betsey was ecstatic to see.

Unfortunately, I was not there to attend the wild, wacky and wonderful show, but I was able to catch it online…and Betsey never ceases to amaze me every season.

This season was about all uniqueness, fun and flirtatiousness. Oh, and let’s not forget florals, and bold picture prints. Starting the show was Betsey’s daughter, Lulu Johnson, coming out in a oh-so-vamp white gown.  The models were all rockabilly glammed-up in pink lips, courtesy of Stila Pro Artist and an amazing lightning bolt earring by Fabrication Unlimited. The dress that wowed me (and I MUST have) was the shimmering pink trimmed gown with some hot pink high tops for a elegant rebel look. I simply adored it.  Another was the tri-colored leather jacket which would go good with all of my jeans.

We also cannot forget the Betsey performance, where she does her signature cartwheel and a perfect split, something that I am not able to do. Before the show started she was backstage giving a speech and she told all of her models to “rock the shit out of the show!!!” I have to hand it to her, this lady is 60+ years, breast cancer survivor and she’s STILL got it.

I totally enjoyed the collection and I am looking forward to Fall 2012!
